Welcome to our video series: How to Change a Tire on a 1998 era Dodge Caravan. In the fifth episode, I give a quick and efficient review of how to install a tire using the factory jack and a better wrench, put the nuts on and sequence them to seat the tire properly, and let the jack down. The tools you supply yourself with can make all the difference in saving time. I also explain how tires are balanced so that they don’t wobble around. The nuts go on finger tight first before tightening them with the wrench. If you are having any trouble with putting the nuts on, make sure that the beveled side is away from you and toward the tire. The second nut goes on opposite the first nut, and so on. This method snugs the tire up nicely and applies more even pressure on the backing of the wheel hub. Tire shops always recommend getting the tires re-tightened about two weeks after you’ve put your tire on. When you are letting the jack down, you don’t have to go as low because the tire is now full of air. Then we put the hubcap back on, which came off when the tire went flat, and we were fortunate enough to find it again.
