Sears Craftsmen Garage Door Opener Wires?
I Just Finished Replacing The Drive And Worm Gear On Our Sears Craftsmen Garage Door Opener. After Hooking All Wires Back Up, I Realised That There Is One Wire Left Over. There Are Three Wires That Come Out Of The Motor (Red White And Blue) I Hooked The Red Coming From The Motor And The Red Coming From The Board The Capacitor. I Did The Same With The Blue. Now I Have A White Wire Left Over And I Cant Figure Out Where It Goes! The Lights On The Sensor Eyes Are Not On Either. When I Push The Button On The Opener, The Relay Just Clicks 7 Or Eight Times.
The wire is the neutral that pushes onto a 1/4 connector on the block where the power cord comes into the power head of the opener. Do not hook the wire to the antenna or you will end up buying a new opener. The white wire should have a push on connector on it. Once it is all connected if the opener does not run check the motor capacitor. The cap. can overload and blow out although in Chamberlains it is very unusual. Remember if you have a model with a steel collar with 2 set screws you should preload the bearing. To do this unplug it. Loosen both set screws. Reach around to the back of the motor and push on the motor shaft till it is as far as it will go. Push the steel collar toward the worm gear and then tighten the set screws. You might need an extra hand. It does not have to be really tight, just take out the slack. This will make it work better and will remove a lot of noise. When the motor runs it pushes or pulls the motor shaft in or out depending on the rotation of the shaft. Tightening it up eliminates the shaft tending to bang in the new bearing you put in. (you did put it in? haha Have fun.
