This webinar starts with a brief review of the material behavior that differentiates glass as a structural material from other more commonly used materials. Various examples of the design of glass to current US codes and standards are reviewed, including typical edge-supported glass panes per ASTM E1300; a-typically supported vertical glass elements; panes or planks supporting gravity loads; glass beams or fins; and a brief introduction to basic bolted connections. Generation of the appropriate glass allowable strength values dependent on glass type and duration of loading per ASTM E1300 and consideration of post-breakage behavior are included.
