I’ve been a long time Kreg jig user. It’s a quick, strong way to join many of the cabinets I build. I replaced my old Kreg jig with the K5 in order to get easy adjustability for joining 1″ thick stock. It works great. It takes only a minute to change from 3/4″ stock to 1″ stock, and most of that is due to changing the stop collar on the drill bit. I should buy a second drill bit and stop collar and leave one set up for 3/4″ stock and the other for 1″. The best new feature, though, is the easy adjusting clamp and moving the handle to the front of the jig, where it’s not blocked by the wood panel I’m drilling. I also like the supports on either side of the jig, although the two plastic supports/storage boxes seem a little flimsy. The plastic in the body of the jig seems sturdy and strong.
