https://woodystraction.com/snowmobile-tech-tips This video shows you how measure the lug height of you track to choose the right stud length for your snowmobile. This video will help you find the correct stud length for your snowmobile track. Woody’s has snowmobile stud charts to help you.
You want the length of your stud to extrude a maximum of 3/8″ over the snowmobile track lug. Any longer than 3/8″, you risk damaging the snowmobile chassis, heat exchanger or exhaust on your snowmobile.
The key is knowing exactly what your snowmobile track lug height is. Follow the directions in this video to measure for lug height.
The easiest way to measure lug height is to place a straight edge across two lugs and measure down from the bottom of the straight edge to the top of the track belting. Some tracks have lugs with varying heights; use the tallest lugs for this measurement.
Once you have your lug height, check our Penetration Recommendation Chart available on our website under Tech Support. This chart lists all the manufacturers lug heights and has the corresponding stud part numbers listed.
