The High Performance section of Plastic Coatings applies PTFE coatings. PTFE or PolyTetraFluoroEthylene has very unique properties.
PTFE coating also known as Teflon ®, Xylan ®, Fluoroplastic or Fluorocarbon coating, is normally applied to components where a non-stick, dry lubricant or low friction coating is required.
Customer’s work is usually prepared by degreasing and gritblasting prior to being wet sprayed with a PTFE coating which is in the form of a liquid dispersion containing varying proportions of PTFE, Resin and other ingredients.
The resulting coating is then oven baked to give a dry film thickness in the region of 15 microns to 35 microns depending upon the number of coats.
Customers may specify a grade to be non-stick as in cookware or a mould, dry lubricant as in under bonnet or seat components that will not subsequently need lubrication, or low friction where perhaps two or more parts need to ‘slide’ together or within one another.
There are many formulations within the PTFE range with some quite specialist applications.

Hello, and welcome to 80/20′s product highlight series. Today we’re going to take a look at a vast selection of T-nuts that 80/20 offers. 80/20′s T-nuts come in a wide variety of shapes, sizes, and finishes to suit your project’s needs. They’re available in fractional, metric, and compatible across a wide range of profile series.
Now the first style of T-nut we’re going to talk about is the standard economy slide-in T-nut. This is one of the more popular options that 80/20 offers and comes standard in most recommended bolt assemblies. Now as the name suggests, it simply slides in from the side of the profile. Now however, you want to make sure that the pilot projection is facing downwards, or towards the middle of the profile. Now, the great thing about this T-nut is that you can substitute out a single T-nut sometimes for a double and a triple T-nut to save you time on your build.
Now, let’s say that, that doesn’t work and you are farther along in your project, or it’s completely finished and you want to add something on later, and you can’t access the end of your profile. That’s where our next two options come into play. The first one, is the drop in T-nut; simply drop it in anywhere in the open T-slot, and lock it into place, like so. Now one other option we have is a roll in T-nut. It serves the same purpose, but just like it sounds, it rolls into the open T-slot.
Now when we are using this, we have a few different options. We have T-nuts with a set screw, a flex handle, a ball spring, or a spring leaf. Now although all these look different, they all serve the same purpose, and that is to hold themselves into place, despite the orientation of the bar. Now one last T-nut we’re going to talk about is the self-aligning T-nut. This one helps fills any open space in the T-slot, and helps you line up your bolts a lot easier during install.
Now as you can see, T-nuts come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes here at 80/20, but they all ensure a strong, secure connection to your project.
