Stud welding uses a type of flux called a ferrule, a ceramic ring which concentrates the heat generated, prevents oxidation and retains the molten metal in the weld zone. The ferrule is broken off of the fastener after the weld is completed. This lack of marring on the side opposite the fastener is what differentiates stud welding from other fastening processes.

In this video, I show the steps I took to drain the transmission fluid, remove the drain pan, change the transmission filter, install a drain plug in the pan, and reinstall the pan in my 2001 Dodge Ram 1500.
I am obviously not a professional mechanic. I am just someone that likes to try to take on small repairs myself, and I have been greatly aided by other helpful videos on YouTube. My goal in posting these videos is to try to return the favor and help someone that may have encountered one of the same problems that I have. I’m sure there are better, more efficient ways to do things, and I am certainly open to constructive criticism. However, I hope that in some way my videos will be helpful.
Thank you for watching!
