There are very few NCAA Division 1 Football programs that conduct their fall training camp off campus. Yet, the Cincinnati Bearcats do just that! They load up the Bearcat semis, vans, and busses and head thirty miles west to the rolling hills and backcountry of Indiana. Destination: Camp Higher Ground.
This camp isn’t about tying square knots, pitching a tent or roasting marshmallows. it’s strictly business out at this camp. And, the business is football…eat…lift weights….meetings…and more football. Head Football Coach Butch Jones removes his team from the distractions of campus where players, coaches and staff can really develop a tight knit, team atmosphere with a focus on Big East Football.

In this ASAP Video Exclusive, Head Strength Coach Dave Lawson and Assistant Michael Szerszen discuss the nuts and bolts of the strength training setup at Camp Higher Ground… and some of the basic training fundamentals employed by the UC Strength Staff to get the Bearcats game ready. After a victorious and impressive season opening contest, Cincinnati heads to Knoxville this week to take on the Vols. Then, a few more non conference games along with the rigors of the Big East schedule. No doubt that all of the hard work, team building and strength training at Camp Higher Ground should pay off.
