How to install wheel spacers on a Toyota 4×4. My thoughts on using wheel spacers, some of the pros and cons of using wheel spacers, and some of the tricks I’ve learned in dealing with wheel spacers over the years.

Generally, I’m a fan of wheel spacers. The biggest thing is just to realize that you’ve deviated from the factory tolerances and that parts (like wheel bearings) are going to wear faster from strain that falls outside the design parameters. but, if you’re running tires big enough to need wheel spacers, you probably know that already.

I say it in the video, but I can’t say it enough: Check those nuts that hold the spacer on often. Wheeling rigs have a freakish ability to loosen everything attached to them.

ALL TECH Plumbing covers: (1) How to remove a roof drain (2) how to build a roof drain assembly to lower the roof drains (3) how to change the roof drain from old to new and how to install a new roof drain.

They show you how to install a roof drain the correct way and what “sumped” roof drains look like and why they are important.

But also how FAST and EASY it is installing roof drains. AN ADDED BONUS

ROOF DRAIN INSTALLATION. Complete step by step instructions by the pro’s at ALL TECH Plumbing show you a roof drain installation of a Zurn Z100 large 15″ cast iron roof drain using a superior grade roof drain pan.

Roof drain sump pans should be purchased with your cast iron roof drains to prevent rainwater from building up on your flat roof.

This does not mean a “sump receiver”.

The difference between the two is that the sump receiver has no “sump” feature engineered into, leaving the roof drains level or higher than the roof. This can create large pools of standing rainwater.

The roof drain sump pan sold by Roof Drain Pans Co has a patented “sump” feature engineered into it design. This patented design lowers the roof drains.

“Sumping” roof drains is vital whether you are lowering existing roof drains or a doing a roof drain installation with new roof drains.

This assures that the roof drains are lower than the surrounding flat roof and will actually do what they are designed to do which is DRAIN THE FLAT ROOF and eliminate pools of standing rainwater.

BE advised that some retailers selling “roof drain sump pans”. They are sump receivers, not true roof drain sump pans.

On this project, a single story condo roof, the original roof drains were sitting too high to actually drain away any standing rainwater. A “sump receiver” was used on the original roof drain installation.

The standing rainwater damaged the roof covering and caused property damage and had to be replaced.

The property owners decided on the roof drains and roof drain pan system shown and also wanted to be sure that the roof drains were properly sumped to avoid the same problem in the future.

This roof drain installation solved any issues standing rainwater problems that were attributed to roof drains being installed with a sump receiver.

Mounting the roof drain to the roof drain sump pan:
    1. Set the roof drain onto the bottom of the roof drain pan.
    2. Anchor the roof drain to the roof drain pan by installing four standard bolts, washers and nuts in the pre-drilled holes in each of the four corners of the roof drain.
    3. The mounting hardware is included with your purchase

Installing the roof drain pan/roof drain unit:
    1. Cut a hole in the roof between the rafters 14 “ square to receive the roof drain.
    2. Set the roof drain pan on the flat roof with the “sump” section directly in the 14” hole. Structural framing not required.
    3. Secure the flanges with nails or screws on the two sides that straddle the rafters. (not supplied)
