ASTM A325
Scope The ASTM A325 specification covers high strength heavy hex structural bolts from ½” diameter through 1-1/2” diameter. These bolts are intended for use in structural connections and therefore have shorter thread lengths than standard hex bolts. Refer to the Structural Bolts page of our site for thread lengths and other related dimensions. This specification is applicable to heavy hex structural bolts only. For bolts of other configurations and thread lengths with similar mechanical properties, see Specification A 449. Bolts for general applications, including anchor bolts, are covered by Specification A 449. Also refer to Specification A 449 for quenched and tempered steel bolts and studs with diameters greater than 1-1/2"" but with similar mechanical properties.| TYPE 1 | Medium carbon, carbon boron, or medium carbon alloy steel. |
| TYPE 2 | Withdrawn November 1991. |
| TYPE 3 | Weathering steel. |
| T | Fully threaded A325. (Restricted to 4 times the diameter in length) |
| M | Metric A325. |
| SC | Slip critical connection. |
| N | Bearing type connection with threads included in the shear plane. |
| X | Bearing-type connection with threads excluded from the shear plane. |

Buyer of my 100 year old house required floor drain to be unplugged. Drain cleaning company UNSUCCESSFULLY power snaked it, and I was faced with a $2,000.00 replacement.
I called Big Dave’s Plumbing in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Dave was en route to hunt deer and had recently been rear ended by a car doing 55 mph., so he could not unplug my drain, but looked at texted pictures and told me how to do it. He said the cleanout plug had probably fallen into the drain and debris had concretized around it. Bend 12″ x 3/8″ or 1/2″ threaded rod, to the curvature of the U at the bottom of the trap, and hammer it down the cleanout and drain sides, continually flushing with water and vacuuming out debris, until you see the rod tip come out the other side of the U. Eventually I uncovered the old brass cleanout. After carefully chiseling around it (you don’t want to puncture the cast iron trap) I was able to remove it, push the rod thru the trap from both sides, flush and vaccum, and make a second video showing that it works! I have made 300 videos demonstrating manufacturing equipment, and never made testimonial. Thank you Big Dave!

1A Auto shows you how to repair, install, fix, change or replace the front stabilizer sway bar links on a 2002 GMC Sierra. This is the same for the 99, 00, 01, 02, 03, 04, 05 and 06 GMC Sierra and Chevrolet Silverado as well as many other GM trucks and some Ford/Mercury vehicles that have this style stabilizer end link.
