Do you live in a windy area and the cap from the top of your chimney blew away? Learn how to install a chimney cap. We’ve learned from experience that a gale force wind can take this type of aluminum rain cap right off the day after it’s been installed. Frequently, it’s the very top that tends to blow away, but sometimes the whole thing comes right off the flue and goes sailing away in the wind. When we install these, we put some extra screws in and tie them down, and silicone them the cap on as well. We don’t take any chances with these rain caps. We screw these caps on and that’s it. This video provides instructions on how to secure the rain cap and shows you the finished product.
