Ramco Electric Motors die casts over 100,000 of a specific part every year. This video details the dilemma, our before process, and our automated solution. A byproduct of the casting process is another portion of the mold that (Biscuit), that ultimately needed to go back in to the aluminum bath. We engineered a solution that eliminated the need for the human interaction. This made the job safer and more enjoyable for our people (Not having to interact near the liquid aluminum as much) and actually freed up a person in the cell to help out in another area. It helped reduce our cycle time from 60 seconds per rotor to 43 seconds, and improved the life of our expensive gloves.
