Hello Mosin Nagant shooters. If you are having difficulty cycling your Mosin Nagant bolt and cleaning the chamber or polishing the extractor face didn’t completely solve your problem, this video might be for you. Since it is easier to diagnose, you can try this to see if your difficulty is because of a problem that is not an extractor face or dirty chamber issue.
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU ARE NOT SHOOTING YOUR RIFLE WHILE IT IS NOT PROPERLY ASSEMBLED, AND WITH ANY BOLTS NOT PROPERLY TIGHTENED.
The issue I was having was a result of how close my magazine box/ trigger guard were getting to the receiver. Essentially, my magazine box was pushing on the bolt and making it hard to close, because you are applying downward pressure when closing, while the magazine is applying upward pressure.
I found the problem by loosening the forward and rear bolts that hold the magazine and receiver together. The problem immediately went away.
YOU SHOULD NOT SHOOT YOUR RIFLE WHILE THESE BOLTS ARE LOOSE. PLEASE RE-TIGHTEN IMMEDIATELY IF YOU ARE SHOOTING YOUR RIFLE.
A proper long term solution for this would be to pillar bed the stock. You can find many videos on this on Youtube.
