Bedfordshire Police has produced a short film explaining how motorists can protect the identity of their vehicles.

The film, an initiative by Central Bedfordshire Vehicle Crime Reduction and Detection Improvement Group, features Sgt Andy Rivers fitting a number plate with tamper-proof screws and explaining how quick and simple the process is.

The film is part of the force’s new campaign, called ‘Your Number’s Up’, which is aimed at clamping down on all kinds of theft from motor vehicles, including number plates.
Stolen number plates are used in crime like the making off without payment of fuel from filling stations, where registration plates are routinely filmed by CCTV.

If you would like to get your number plates fitted with free tamper-proof screws simply attend one of the crime prevention roadshows local policing teams are holding around the county.
