Also something to note around Mighty Car Mods: we are normal guys and are not trained mechanics. We like to make interesting car mods and show you how we’ve gone about it, but we can’t promise that anything we show you will work for your particular car, or that you won’t harm yourself, someone else, your car or your warranty doing it. Please be safe, be responsible and unless you know what you’re doing, do not fool around with very serious machinery just because you’ve seen us make it look so easy. Talk to a qualified mechanic if you are in any doubt.

Using a propane torch and https://MuggyWeld.com’s SSF-6 56% silver solder, Mike brazes stainless steel tube to a steel plate. The resulting bond is a super strong 70,000 psi. When using large or thicker steel or stainless steel you may need to use oxy mapp gas, oxygen propane or an oxyacetylene torch. Always preheat your metals when brazing or soldering. Heating adjacent to the work area will slow down the surrounding area from pulling heat away from the joint to be silver soldered. When the metals start to trun color you can apply the flux and continue heating until the metals start turning red, then simply apply the flame to both the parent steels and the rod to flow the SSF-6 in to the desired joint.

SSF-6 finishes beautifully, without a need for grinding or machining, and can be applied with a propane, oxy-acet, or MAPP gas torch.
