I created this tutorial using my three brother embroidery and sewing & embroidery machines as a working reference point. I created a tool that you have at home to use to test your bobbin tension. *******

    Detailed Description: Below *******
“Overall thread tension help comments”. I always use Polystar® polyester, Embroidery type, 50wt thread and Polystar pre-wound bobbins of same weight. Brother embroidery machines come with thread type default settings set for #124 / Embroidery. There are other thread types to select from, like #123 / Country, #123 Sulky, etc I have on all my Brother embroidery machine’s upper tension set to the factory default of 0:0. my bobbin case tension I set to 1 ounce or 5 quarters taped to the bobbin case with a full bobbin installed. I tape the weight to the case bottom, while I hold the thread in my hand, then let the weighted bobbin case go and may require a jiggle to get it to slowly unwind to the floor. Note: As the bobbin gets lower on thread it effects the bobbin tension, it becomes less and could appear on the top of fabric mixed with your top color thread. https://youtu.be/d6rPZgPDKxI When you reinstall your bobbin case make sure to line up the two **white dots at the lower right of bobbin case and one on the chrome metal of frame. Embroidery stabilizer-fabric-relationship problems “From my experience” First off; The embroidery machine does not know the size of your hoop nor the fabric type you’re embroidering. My first concern is that your design has to be embroidered on a stable fabric/stabilizer combination. Your design is formed with thousands of lock-stitches. When the needle goes down with your upper thread it is captured by your bobbin hook that will wind the bobbin thread around the upper thread, then form a lock stitch within the fabric/stabilizer combination. So. Use a medium layer or two if needed, hoop it, then spray your stabilizer with a temporary adhesive spray like ‘Sulky® KK-2000; put first some painters masking tape on your hoop rim so you do not get a build-up of adhesive on your hoop. Then place your fabric without stretching it, just work out the wrinkles first. Next I would use a top clear stabilizer; you can spray your fabric with some KK-2000 also then place your Sulky® water soluble clear stabilizer. Leave your top tension at 0:0, check this setting from the ‘page’ icon embossed at the bottom center of your touch screen, press,, arrow, keys on your display until you see the tension screen, there is a, – & +, press arrows to set to 0:0 tension. I do not use the spool plastic disc that Brother supplies, I let my spool feed off without the cap. My spools have a small cone at the top without the normal spool plastic or wood rim.
