Everyone asks where I find AR-15 stuff in stock or where I order from, so here you are: https://bit.ly/ar15parts

Is it possible to remove and replace your AR-15 takedown pin without removing the castle nut, end plate or stock? Yes. This trick is especially helpful to those who want to replace their takedown pin when they have a staked castle nut. In this video, I show you exactly how to do it.

These are the steps/instructions for removing a takedown pin without having to remove a staked castle nut. You do not need to remove the end plate or castle nut to do this.

    1. Grab a 3/64″ flathead screwdriver which is sometimes called an eyeglass screwdriver.
    2. Pop the takedown pin out so you can see the channel and detent.
    3. Use the small screwdriver to manipulate the detent towards the rear of the lower receiver. You will have to push it against spring pressure.
    4. Rotate the takedown pin so the detent is now trapped.
    5. From the opposite side of the lower receiver, slide a pivot pin through the takedown pin hole.
    6. Using pressure on both pins so there is no gap, slide the pivot pin in place while removing the takedown pin.
    7. Grab your new or replacement takedown pin and using pressure on both pins again, slide the takedown pin in place while removing the pivot pin.
    8. Rotate the new takedown pin so the detent snaps into place in the channel.

That is all you have to do and you do not have to remove your staked castle nut, end plate, spring, detent, buffer tube or stock from your AR-15. I hope this helped.
