((Note: Models listed above CAN have the same transmission.))
IF YOU HAVE A DIFFERENT TRANSMISSION THE PARTS LISTED WILL NOT BE THE SAME ! ! ! !
IF YOU HAVE A DIFFERENT VEHICLE SOME OF THE PARTS LISTED MAY NOT BE THE SAME ! ! ! !
The current project is a (98 Cavalier). Depending on year and model torque specs and methods of installation may vary widely!
IT SHOULD BE NOTED! There are 3 basic ways to remove the CV axle. Depending on YOUR model vehicle some will work and SOME WILL NOT WORK ! :-/
1st way – Unbolt the strut from the steering knuckle as I did in this video and swing the hub and assembly down out of the way.
2nd way – Remove the brake caliper and hub assembly, then pull the CV axle through the same hole if its large enough to fit.
3rd way – Remove the tie rod and lower ball joint and swing the hub and strut outward to remove the CV axle. (nylon tie rod nut replacement required)
“The 4T40E is a four speed automatic transaxle designed and built by General Motors. It was first used in 1995 in the Chevrolet Cavalier and Corsica, along with the Pontiac Sunfire. The transmission was used up through 2005 in many other vehicles, including the Daewoo Nubira and Lanos, the Chevrolet Malibu, the Pontiac Grand Am, the Oldmobile Alero and Cutlass, and the Saturn L-Series of vehicles.”
