This is what I do when I get a knife that does not open smoothly out of the box.
(Note I don’t normally break in the knives on my store, this was just a demo. I do check them for problems though)
Rapid Open/Close to speed wear-in of moving parts.
Apply Lube
Check Pivot Tension
If that doesn’t give the desired results there may be grit in the pivot area.
Loosening the pivot and blowing out with compressed air is easiest.
Taking out the blade and cleaning it, the washers and the liners where they touch is what you do if THAT doesn’t work.
