Coaster brakes need occasional repair and service. It’s not difficult; and maybe you can save yourself the cost of a bicycle tune-up. REMEMBER how things come apart. Take pictures and make marks. Use high temperature brake grease.
There are a lot of these old bikes around they get a little worn, maybe have a small issue and stop being ridden. I bought this one for $20 from a bicycle shop in Santa Monica that has hundreds of these old bikes. It worked when I got it but it wasn’t dependable. The chain would fall off and I could see that the hub was really loose. This tune-up brought it right back to life.
The trickiest part is that skinny little lock nut that requires a special wrench to get into these hubs. I ground down an old wrench to complete the task.
Thanks for Watching. Ride Safe.
