    Toilet Flange Replacement Cast Iron

This is what you want to do if your having a hard time removing the toilet bolts
Just break the toilet and the bass
As you can see this is one of the biggest problems that they have with the toilet
The floor is starting to fall apart
And when this happens the toilet gets loose and starts moving back and forth
And this is not good for the wax ring or seal
What were going to do here is were going to remove this floor and replace it with a new floor
And that will make it a lot stronger so the new toilet will be stable the when its set on the new floor
Lets get the old wax ring out of here
And were going to clean up this little spot right here
The flange is also broke and were going to replace the old flange
This is an old cast iron flange and cast iron pipe
If your familiar with the old lead and oakum this cast iron flange has been install with lead and oakum
But were going to do some thing different on this flange replacement
Melting lead and using oakum is not required for what were going to do
And were going to finish getting the rest of this floor out
And what were doing here is cutting each side of the flange so we can remove the flange in pieces
What were using here is a side angle grinder
And we have a diamond blade on it
This makes it easy to cut right through cast iron or and hard metal brick pretty much any hard subs tent
Ok now that you see we have the cut
We have the cut of the side
What were going to do here is take our pry bar
Or what every we have and just pry it loose and off
See how it comes apart fight in half were just going to pull that old flange off of there
You can see the old lead
And of course this is a bottom view of the floor that’s going to be replaced
And the toilet flange that’s what its called
This here is a repair flange
This is A cast iron repair flange
Notice the rubber in the middle
this is what’s going to seal the pipe and the flange from any leaks from up under the when ever the toilet is flush
And it should just fit right over the pipe
If not just pull it back up and make adjustments that will open it up to fit
Now the only thing left to do
    Is tighten the bolts
Were it will compress the rubber ring together causing a nice tight seal
And of course before setting the toilet clean the pipe out very good.
And screw the flange down to the floor
