Norfolk Southern train number 593, an empty coal, was lead by NS 4001 today. 4001 was painted in a special blue/grey scheme with a yellow ‘lightning bolt’ separating the two colors. It is one of few DC to AC rebuild locomotives, identified as AC44C6M. More are planned for rebuild, however they will not be receiving a special paint scheme.
Trailing was SD70ACe 1036. The train passed through Wago Road in York Haven around 12:20
Well, shortly after I caught this train and typed up this description, the train left the rails. 4001 and 1036 were dug multiple feet into the ground on their sides and about 20 coal hoppers crumpled up right with them. Surprisingly, no injuries but some minor scrapes and cuts.
In this video we finish machining the head of the clamp bolts. Operations shown are cutting the groove, cutting the spherical radius and squaring the head. When the machining is complete, the parts are heat treated, tempered and blackened.
