As we all know, in order to separate a radiator fan from a water pump, the pump shaft must remain stationary in order to break loose the large clutch nut. After battling the clutch nut on a 2005 Ford F-150 5.4L with both a band wrench and a special removal kit that didn’t fit my vehicle, it occurred to me there may be a better way.
If you’ve struggled like I have, you may find this method pretty helpful. All you need is a length of chain about 8-10 inches long.
