This brown, faux leather couch by Best Choice Products came in two separate packages, which were astonishingly light weight.
It took me and my husband approximately forty-five minutes to open the packages and carry the pieces and parts up the stairs into his man cave cigar bar on the second floor of our house, and assemble them there.
They come with one page of “instructions,” printed on one side of an 8 1/2 by 11 inch sheet of paper. They are more a diagram showing the parts and the phases of assembly, than a set of instructions, and the parts were not labeled, which made it frustrating to try to put one of the arms on the couch, because the arms seemed interchangeable, until it occurred to me that perhaps it mattered which side the arms went on. Apparently, the holes for the bolts had been drilled with the arm in place, so that the holes would match exactly, causing it to matter which arm went on which side.
The couch comes with a flat wrench to tighten the eight nuts which fasten the arms to the sides of the couch; I also needed to use one of my husband’s screwdrivers to make holes for the corresponding bolts to go through. The corresponding holes on the arms are reinforced with heavy, metal rivets.
The couch itself is a very good deal for its price. Between being light weight and easy to assemble, it is very firm and comfortable. It comes with a foot stool which, depending on the configuration of the seat cushions, can either form the bottom of an “L” in conjunction with the rest of the couch, or stand alone as a square footstool. It has a boxy, rectangular look, and fits perfectly into one corner of my husband’s man cave, between the door at one end, and a fountain and window at the foot of the “L.”
I’m 5 feet 2 inches tall, and can fit perfectly between the arms of the couch, lying down, fully extended, for a nap. When I sit up at the bottom of the “L,” it accommodates my outstretched legs perfectly. Unfortunately, my husband is too tall to lie fully extended on the couch, between the arms, but he can put his feet on the foot stool at an angle if he wants to take a nap on this couch. We both find it very comfortable, and ideal for people with small apartments on upper levels, who don’t want to (or can’t) carry a large, heavy couch up the stairs or into an elevator.
