Home made fret bender to curve very small, very narrow frets for use on a violin fingerboard fretting project. I made this from a scrap of Birch and some parts from the hardware store.
I used 1/2″ Shoulder bolts x 1-3/4″ long, some precision bearings with a 1/2″ I.D. and about 1-1/8″ O.D. along with assorted spacer washers in the SAE type and nylon spacers for low friction purpose. I also fabricated a handle from an old jig saw I had laying around and bent up a stainless flat piece to the shape I wanted and TIG welded the whole thing together. Since I was using clamp collars on the top bolt, I cut off the threads and sanded it smooth. The others were finished off with nyloc nuts as shown. This will easily bend a 42mm radius on the Stew-Mac #764 fret wire as you see here.
